The economy was in shambles and each week it seemed that we were hearing of yet another local home builder closing their doors. There were virtually no custom on-your-lot home building projects taking place, yet our ultimate goal in starting Charter Bay was to become known as one of the best high-end custom luxury home builders in Tampa Bay. Part of our long-term strategy was to spend the first few years of the recovery fine-tuning our systems while establishing a reputation of attentive service and quality craftsmanship. The last four years have proven to be some of the most challenging, and in hindsight, the most rewarding of our 18 years of local building experience. During our first four years we managed to stay busy with large renovation and remediation projects, building an impressive list of clients who are ready, willing, and excited to tell you how good Charter Bay really is.
Fortunately for everyone, the Tampa home building market is now experiencing a serious recovery. Our phone has been ringing nearly every day with new people wanting to build custom homes on their own lots. We are receiving a variety of calls for homes ranging from 2,500 square feet to 14,000 square feet, which is indicative of a broad market shift taking place in the Tampa Bay area. For us, the last four years have further reinforced our vision to provide unmatched service and quality in building. We aren’t in this business to build as many homes as we can, but the best homes we can – quality over quantity. As such, we find ourselves in the position of having to turn down new construction projects. As a boutique custom home builder, we have narrowed our focus down to large, on your lot custom projects. Given where the market was four years ago, we can confidently say that Tampa’s home building market has finally turned the corner!

The resale market has turned from a buyer’s market to a seller’s market and it is forecasted that this trend will continue for several years.
